If This World Were Mine...

Bob & Gene - If This World Were Mine...

A late 60s/early 70s soul relic that was recently unearthed and published by Daptone 36.

Pitchfork excerpt:

"It's all here-- the full spectrum of dumbstruck teenage L-U-V. Tough love. Unrequited love. Romantic love. Misguided love. Religious love. Selfish love. The love that doesn't come for free but is priceless-- all of it. "

This is the real deal, it's got the raw sensibility of Otis Redding, the "My Girl" hooks of The Temptations and the idealism of Marvin Gaye.

Check it.

If Moby Grape visited the Balkans and made them listen to Disraeli Gears...

Bunalim - Bunalim (2007)

Turkish psychedelic garage rock/fuzz.
It sounds exactly as it should: like John Wayne conquering the Ottoman Empire armed only with a six shooter and a half-pound of chewing tobacco.
Lester Bangs would approve, and you will too. Don't be afraid to kick and break shit while you're rocking out with your Grados on.
It's like Moby Grape visited the Balkans and made them listen to Cream's "Disraeli Gears" whilst shouting, "Take notes motherfuckers!"

Everybody Thinks Im A Raincloud (When Im Not Looking)

These are the Strawberry Sessions. Whatever that means.
I've got no original tunes to promote, no obscure tape labels to rep, no low-cut DJs to namedrop.
What niche does that leave me?
How about I just up some albums I enjoy needling to on a new spring's day, and you listen?
Obscurity has nothing to do with it, though don't expect to see "Led Zeppelin II" anytime soon.
We're going to dig some cool shit over at this spot, okay?
Time out.
Respect to the late, great John Peel.
You'll never walk alone sir, so long as there are still people out there repping the good tunes.
